TomKat grew from Derek’s life in the gas industry and a straightforward belief: people learn best when they feel welcome, supported and able to ask questions.
Where it started
Learning the trade alongside his dad.
Derek has worked in the gas industry since he was a teenager. His first experience came from working with his dad, mainly on commercial engineering during the 1980s.
Those early years gave him practical knowledge, but also shaped the way TomKat teaches today: explain things clearly, share what experience has taught you and never make someone feel awkward for asking.
