Managed learning programme
Introduction
This course is a recognised route into the gas industry without having already completed an NVQ or apprenticeship in plumbing or gas. Before you can take your accredited certification scheme domestic initial assessment (ACS) you will need to complete the MLP course. The course is approved by IGEM and is certificated by LCL awards. On completion of the MLP and ACS assessment, you will receive your ACS certificate from LCL awards. This certificate will enable you to apply to the gas safe register and become a gas safe registered engineer.
It is beneficial to have a background in mechanical engineering or plumbing for example, in order to complete the course. However previous experience of working in the gas industry is not essential
Stage 1
Complete our classroom training programme. You will complete a set number of weeks training, that will include practice theory exams and training on the appliances
stage 2
Complete your onsite portfolio with your mentor. It is important that you have a mentor in place before you begin the MLP course. Your mentor will be a fully qualified gas engineer who will help you complete your portfolio of gas work
stage 3
Once your classroom training and portfolio are complete; you will then take your ACS initial assessment. This 5 day exam will test your knowledge gained through the training you learned both in the classroom and onsite. If you pass, you will receive your accreditation certificate which you can then use to join the gas safe register
